Have you spotted our 70th anniversary truck?
/To celebrate 70 years in business, Dumbarton-based haulier Galt Transport has created a specially designed anniversary truck to mark the occasion. To reflect the platinum anniversary, the truck has been wrapped with a platinum coloured vinyl with a large scale design of the company’s 70th anniversary emblem. The truck, a Scania R490 with Palfinger lorry mounted crane, is one of four new lorry mounted cranes added to Galt’s fleet this year. The firm’s 70th emblem has also been applied to the cabs of the firm’s 60-strong fleet and staff uniforms.
Still owned and operated by the same family, the company was established in 1947 using four vehicles, together with a horse and cart for local deliveries. These days, the haulage contractor runs 60 vehicles and over 100 trailers from depots across central Scotland. Additional services which have been developed over the years include industrial storage and driver training.
The new anniversary truck joins an immaculately restored 1937 Albion CL125 in the company’s original green livery, in a nod to the firm’s proud heritage. Managing director Allan Galt, who completed his apprenticeship at Albion Motors, Glasgow, acquired the Albion truck last year after it was restored by Campbell Commercials of Alexandria.
The anniversary truck will hit the road immediately and will be put to work up and down the country. The company are encouraging anyone who spots the anniversary truck to share their photos on the company’s social media pages on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the #Galt70
